CAP Waterline to South Water Treatment Plant (SWTP) / Design-Build
Town of Gilbert

CAP WaterlineThis project includes the design, procurement, and construction of approximately 13 miles of 48-inch raw water pipeline that will convey water from the Central Arizona Project (CAP) Canal turnout structure (Ocotillo Road east of Schnepf Road) to the new SWTP just west of the intersection of Recker Road.

Work on this project includes of the widening of three bridges crossing the existing Eastern Maricopa Floodway (EMF) and the RWCD canal. Additional work involves roadway widening including asphalt concrete (AC) paving, asphalt rubber overlay, aggregate base course, curb and gutter, sidewalk, concrete driveways, raised median installation, landscaping, street lighting, traffic signals, pavement marking, storm drain installation, box culvert extension, and concrete lined irrigation ditch construction.

Firm Role: General Contractor

Self Performed: 90%

Expected Completion: October 2008

 

 

PAST PROJECT SPOTLIGHTS

Power Road Improvements / DBB
MCDOT

Power Road BridgeThis project is located on Power Road from the RWCD Canal crossing south of Guadalupe Road to Baseline Road, on Guadalupe Road from about 400 m west of Power Road to Power Road, and on Baseline Road from Kiowa Avenue to Roslyn Place. The project site is located within unincorporated portions of Maricopa County as well as within the City of Mesa and Town of Gilbert limits.

Work on this project includes of the widening of three bridges crossing the existing Eastern Maricopa Floodway (EMF) and the RWCD canal. Glendale Onboard / CM@Risk
City of Glendale

Glendale GO ExcavatorAchen-Gardner’s responsibilities included infrastructure, street, and intersection improvements to enhance traffic flow, safety conditions, bus and pedestrian access, and roadway aesthetics throughout the City.

The project included two critical milestone completion dates associated with the 2007 and 2008 Bowl Seasons, Phase 1 and Phase 2 respectively. These improvements included street widening, additional turn lanes, raised medians, and landscape improvements.

In addition to self-performing all of the project's wet utility, grading, paving, concrete flatwork and concrete structure work, Achen-Gardner Engineering, LLC worked closely with the project's six Design Consultants assisting with utility coordination and relocations as well as right-of-way and easement acquisitions.

Phase 2 work is ongoing and completion is expected by February of 2008.
